Windfall is a community benefit fund for Mid Wales that links income from renewable energy with rural regeneration. We provide grant aid to appropriate community projects, using money provided voluntarily by developers of energy generation and other developments.
Donations we receive are offered as grants and loans for community investments near contributing wind farms. We are particularly interested in supporting:
- Renewable energy generation;
- Energy efficiency / demand reduction measures;
- Low carbon, shared, community and active travel initiatives;
- Educational activities in pursuit of sustainable development.
Currently Montgomeryshire is the beneficial area, particularly the Community Council areas of Carno, Caersws, Trefeglwys, Dwyriw, Llanbrynmair and Llanerfyl.
Beneficiaries have included village halls and other community buildings, football clubs, energy cooperatives, training organisations and climate action groups.
Please explore the website and get in touch if you are:
A community organisation with a proposal to make your organisation or community more sustainable;
or
A commercial organisation looking for ways to share the benefits of renewable energy or other developments.

Windfall’s registered name is Mid Wales Community Energy Trust. It is a non-profit company managed by voluntary Directors. Get in touch if you’re interested in joining the Board!

Windfall is grateful for the long-standing partnership with our current donor, Amegni Ltd, who owns Carno Wind Farm.
