Myrick’s completion report for grant funding received through WINDFALL (Mid Wales Community Energy Trust), as delivered by Ecodyfi.
Solar panels: To reduce the power consumption at Myrick’s office premises in Mid Wales, a new 6.4KWp solar panel system has been installed by EOM Ltd. 16 x 400w solar panels, along with the control equipment were installed and commissioned at the start of May 2024.
We were very pleased with the installation, there was minimal disruption and we have already seen benefits.
From the commission date (9th May 2024) to today, our average daily power usage is 5.44KWh. Our usage for the same period 12 months ago (before the solar panels were installed) was 13.92KWh. This shows a power consumption saving per day of 8.48KWh in the first two months of usage.
Insulation fitted into loft area of Myrick House:
To reduce the heat loss through the roof of Myrick House, an additional 300mm of loft insulation has been installed. This was carried out by A&M Insulation on Tuesday 28th May 2024. Myrick paid for an additional 100mm depth of fitted insulation, making the overall insulated depth 400mm in total.
Again, a very neat installation with minimal disruption to our business.
We await the impact of environmental efficiencies that we have gained by having 400mm overall depth of insulation. This will make a difference through the colder months of the year by keeping more heat within the building and avoiding heat escaping through the roof.
